i have a white 16GB iPhone 3G. So i put it in my dock, iTunes came up on my MacBook like it normally does, then the iPhone restarted a white screen came up for about 25 seconds then an Apple came up, then the connect to iTunes symbol came up on the Phone. I was puzzled as to why this had happened since i’m extremely careful & certainly would not ever jailbreak it, because its against Apple’s EULA. So i click restore expecting everything to work, then I get something like “iTunes cannot connect to the iPhone “iPhone” an unknown error accrued error 21. Then i put it in DUF mode, the screen went white again, I was looking pleased as it looked like the firmware was installing then that failed & now its displaying error code 2001, what shall I do.
i only got the Phone on 27th December 2008
I’m not sure how far the closest Apple store is from you but if I were you I would definitely try to book an appointment with them for the Genius bar to see if they can help you out with it. Since you’ve never jailbroken it, just explain to them what happens and they’ll check it out. Chances are you probably still have that one year limited warranty so if they find that it is a flaw with the iPhone itself, you may just get a replacement iPhone for free. Good luck!
Error 21 either means your iPhone needs to be hard reset (hold both the sleep/power button and the home button down until the device cuts out, then wait 10 seconds and power it back up) or replaced.
Error 2001 looks to be either an issue with the iPhone or your computer.
Just take it to your nearest Apple Store or authorized retailer, and hope that you got that AppleCare warranty – chances are, you’ll be replacing that iPhone.
Don’t listen to any of these people.
You’re getting a error 21 problem probably because you have a brand new aluminum macbook. If this is the case, and you still want to unlock your phone, don’t waste any more time messing with software and find a POWERED USB hub. That is the only way to unlock iphones on the new macbooks.
I hope every1 who is having the same problem reads this cause I’ve tried every way possible for countless hours and getting a powered USB hub between your phone and computer is the only way to prevent the new aluminum mac laptops from blocking the unlock process.
